MTV and VH1 formal name change

Since the inception of digital cable and digital satellite dish's extra bandwidth for more available channels, MTV Networks created MTV2 in 1996 (formally M2) which originally was the original vision of MTV reborn: music videos 24-7, but in the past 6 years it has changed to a secondary version of what MTV and it's non-music oriented programming is now. The strictly music video and musical performance oriented programming can be seen on a few MTV and VH1 stations: MTV Hits, which is the most likely candidate to carry the original MTV name after the proposed name change, VH1 Classic, which actually identifies that it is the original vision of VH1 reborn in it's name, MTV Jams, VH1 Soul, and Palladia: the former MHD (which was an abbreviation of MTV High Definition).
The proposed name change could have a domino effect on MTV Network's other more music oriented programmed channels, which would be welcome and would help people identify what the channel offers more clearly, and would be a better tribute to MTV's former all-music-videos-all-the-time heritage. We all know the role that the current MTV and VH1 plays in the viewer's lives as to help aid in deciding what is cool and what isn't, which MTV has and probably always will promote well, but after more than 25 years, and the past 10 + have been an almost total change in programming direction, the time is right for the network to respectively say that enough is enough and for them to do what is right and change the names of it's 2 most carried networks to something more fitting.
