MyFamily.com Use of User Submitted Databases

Both Rootweb.com's and Ancestry.com's Terms & Condition pertaining to user submitted content state, "you grant MyFamily.com, Inc., the corporate host of the Service, a limited license to the content to use, host, distribute that Content and allow hosting and distribution on co-branded Services of that Content." Contrary to MyFamily.com interpretation, this does NOT give MyFamily.com the right to charge a fee for other genealogists to view the information contained in any user submitted databases.
Lastly, after acquiring Rootsweb.com in 2000, MyFamily.com decided on its own to merge Rootsweb's WorldConnect and Ancestry World Trees family tree files into a single database. And that genealogists can search the user submitted data for free at both sites. There are plans under way to add RootsWeb (a free, grassroots resource) WorldConnect Project (http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com) files to the service.
MyFamily.com is setting a very dangerous precedent that is detrimental to genealogists and genealogy research, as a whole, by taking donated information that was understood to be forever free and making a subscription out of it.
We, the undersigned, respectfully request that MyFamily.com remedy the current situation by acknowledging that no additional user submitted data will ever be converted/usurped into a subscription service (i.e. USGenWeb project databases maintained by volunteers or any other user maintained databases hosted by any of MyFamily.com's services) and by instituting any of the following:
1. Not include any user submitted data in the One World Tree service.
2. If the user submitted family data is considered as essential to the One World Tree service, then MyFamily.com provide unlimited, no-cost access to the One World Tree service for the user's whose data they are incorporating into the service.
3. Allow the submitter to decide if they wish their data to be used in the One World Tree service, and that the default is set to 'No' until such time that the user changes the setting themselves.
