We the undersigned who care about the cultural heritage of Australia as well as the rest of the world demand the N.G.A. (National Gallery of Australia) return the statue of Shiva as Lord of the Dance (Nataraja) acquired from Subash Kapoor immediately.
The NGA by undertaking legal action against Subash Kapoor has acknowledged that the bronze has been illegally obtained and should make all efforts to expedite it's return to India.
Immediate steps should be undertaken by the NGA to consult with experts in India such as Dr N Murusegan of the French Institute in Pondicherry, Archeaelogical Survey of India and The Department of Culture to ascertain the true home of this treasure. And not sit on our hands while the legal cases against the looters drag on as George Brandis and Allan Myers QC (Chair of NGA Council) would have us do when interviewed by Four Corners.
For more on this issue see the episode of Four Corners screened 24th March, 2014
