THE PROBLEMThis past year, the State of New Jersey adopted a constitutional amendment which directs the sales tax on all gasoline sales, including that to boats, to a dedicated fund for bridge and road improvements. This is inequitable to the Boaters in the State of New Jersey. Boaters in the State should receive a Refund of Sales Tax monies not directed to projects which improve Recreational Boating and quality of life of the Boating Public. Other States return these improperly collected Sales Tax to the Boaters if a dedicated Marine Trust Fund is not in effect. THE SOLUTION!!!WE, THE UNDERSIGNED, ARE OPPOSED TO THE STATE OF NEW JERSEY COLLECTING SALES TAX ON FUEL SOLD TO BOATERS AND USING BOATING FUEL SALES TAX UNSUITABLY FOR REPAIR AND CONSTRUCTION OF ROADS. WE, THE UNDERSIGNED, PETITION THE STATE OF NEW JERSEY TO ESTABLISH A SPECIAL FUND FROM THE COLLECTION OF SALES TAX ON BOATING FUELS AND RETURN THE MONIES BY WAY OF A VOUCHER SYSTEM, AS A REFUND, UNTIL SUCH TIME THAT A DEDICATED FUND, BUDGETED FOR RECREATIONAL BOATING IS ESTABLISHED.
