No! To Financing Oppression

Dear Senators,

We sign this petition to call for the stoppage of all Foreign Military Aid to Autocratic Governments.

Supporting these types of governments, that by design allow no input from their citizenry, goes against the American ideals of freedom, and sends a mixed message to the rest of the world. Furthermore, by supporting the governments military through training & monetary aid, we enable that Autocratic Government to effectively control their populations through force/coercion. We enjoy our freedom while we finance the oppression of others. We should be ashamed.

We only have to look to Egypt and the 1.2 billion dollars a year sent in military aid as an example of U.S. foreign policy funding dictatorial regimes. [In 1981 Hosni Mubarak imposed 'emergency law' that is in effect till date, allowing him to arrest anyone for any reason with out trial.] That is 1.2 billion dollars that could of been invested into U.S. economy/infrastructure.

If we believe truly that a people should be free to decide for themselves the type of government and rule of law they shall abide by, then our government will cease and desist from funding dictatorships. Enough is enough. It is time to end Americas public position of freedom for everyone, at the same time funding a government/military that oppress those freedoms we value.

NO! TO FINANCING OPPRESSION! No to the hypocrisy!
