It has been brought to my attention by several other students that the plan to remove Alyssa Knierim from her position of Secretary on Holy Spirit School's Student Council is unjust to our student rights.
We voted for Alyssa because we thought she'd be the best candidate for the position; regardless of her past record of getting detentions and not exactly being the best student in our school. She's a great person nevertheless. If you remove her from office because of the above stated reasons, you've violating our right to choose our leaders. It's not fair that Alyssa ran a great campaign and was; and still is; the candidate who was the most qualified for the office of Secretary, and is now getting taken away from the position she loves because she's not perfect. NOBODY, for that matter, is perfect. Everybody makes mistakes also.
If you could understand how we feel about this and about how much being on Student Council means to Alyssa then maybe you'd understand the reason behind this petition. People who don't even know Alyssa may or may not sign this petition too. It just goes to show how much rights mean to people.
