Objection to Granting of License for Waveform Festival 2010

If given permission, music (mostly trance) will be playing 24 hours a day from midday Friday 10th September to 4am Monday 13th September, selling alcohol into the early hours of the morning.
Waveform has been held for the previous 3 years, each time in a different location due to issues encountered on each occasion (they were unable to obtain an appropriate license in 2009 therefore holding the festival under a Temporary Event Notice limiting the number of visitors). The recorded issues include:
Significant number of noise complaints including from residents over 4 miles away from the festival location after 2am.
Numerous arrests for large quantities of Class A drugs (including dealers).
Large number of drunk/drugged people wandering the streets at all hours
Local roads clogged with parked cars
Locals witnessing drug taking and people defecating in public
This festival is due to be controlled by volunteers, and from what can be ascertained will bring nothing positive to Bury St Edmunds. The undersigned believe that the festival will create significant disturbance throughout this weekend (especially given that this is during term time, and there is a large number of families with children living within close proximity to the airfield). There is also genuine concern that the festival will become uncontrollable in the event of any breach of either regulations or the law.
The licensing department is therefore urged not to grant a license for this festival.
