Crest Academies in the London Borough of Brent are proposing to redevelop the school buildings.
There has been a lack of transparency with those directly affected. A leaflet was put through some doors with minimal information and the details on the London Borough of Brent website contains only information about the original proposals (May 2011). The old proposals are more sympathetic to neighbours' concerns and much less intrusive.
The new buildings are to be FOUR- FIVE STORIES high and in some cases could be as close as 10 METERS away from the end of the neighbouring gardens.
The only reason it appears Crest Academies have gone for this layout, as opposed to something less intrusive is cost. They are proposing to build the new buildings close to homes on Vincent Gardens and Crest Road so they can continue to use existing school buildings while the work is carried out.
This is in total contradiction to the original plans which would have been less damaging to the local area. The original plans to errect low level buildings more centrally on the plot seem to have been scrapped though would have been much less intrusive and would not affect the residents so dramatically.
Furthermore, part of the proposal involves turning the existing pedestrian school pathway at the rear of Hillcrest Gardens into a TWO LANE road in order to provide access to 89 car parking spaces for the site. This would affect residents of Dollis Hill Lane, Orchards Close and all neighbouring roads.
The proposals include plans to open the new facilities at the school to the wider public, during early mornings, evenings and weekends, which will create huge permanent noise, nuisance and security issues seven days a week to the adjoining properties and their gardens.
