One Million Voices

Dear Friends:

I am a person of strong faith as many of you know. However, I am deeply troubled by the growing "conservative" agenda that is all too pervasive in this country right now. I recently read that the American Family Association (AFA) is targeting Ford Motor Company because they are donating $1,000 to GLAAD (Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) for every Jaguar they sell. The following excerpt came from an article on msnbc.com on June 1, 2005 and is most disturbing:

"The fight against Ford is just one of many it has going: As of Tuesday, it was calling for action against the Carls Jr. hamburger chain (to protest its racy new ad featuring Paris Hilton), Kraft Foods (for its sponsorship of the 2006 Gay Games), Mary Kay Cosmetics and Old Navy stores (for advertising on ABCs prime-time soap opera Desperate Housewives) and NutriSystem Inc., the weight-loss company (for airing its own salacious TV ad)."

AFA also has two affiliate organizations -- One Million Moms and One Million Dads. Their mission is to encourage one million moms and dads "to stand against the immorality, violence, vulgarity and profanity the entertainment media is throwing at children. It is time to fight back!"

Indeed! It is time to fight back! Lets create ONE MILLION VOICES and fight back against hatred, bigotry, and homophobia. In the words of one of my favorite people in the world -- HOW LONG MUST WE SING THIS SONG?

To date, 54,000 people have signed a petition to boycott Ford. Im starting my own petition and I hope you will join me in signing this petition to boycott bigotry, homophobia and hatred. Lets support The Ford Company and others like them for their willingness to make a positive impact in the gay community. Lets collect ONE MILLION signatures to show AFA the time to stop hating is NOW.
