We the undersigned, hereby respectfully request that a formal inquiry be made into the finding and clarifying of the remains and/or whereabouts of the ship known as Orca, portrayed in the motion picture "JAWS". Understanding that this particular vessel holds significant historical value for both the film archeological record, and for the millions of fans worldwide that recognize it's significant place and role in the history of film. Whereas, an extensive effort has been made to preserve other sea going vessels, such as those built by the Vikings, the Queen Mary, and more recently, film artifacts such as the many multifarious vehicles and props from other important film works, we feel that neglect and disregard for the care of this boat has led to it's possible demise since no definitive conclusion to it's whereabouts has been documented as of yet. Therefore, we (the fans) hereby request that Universal Studios Hollywood, and all the related divisions concurrent with Universal/ Vivendi inc., that have any records, and or knowledge of said boat; Make an official effort to allow the fact-finding, fan based consortium Operation Orca, research access to any and all related archival records pertinent to Orca. This might include photographs, artwork, and props or any other miscellaneous property that relate to Orca. Inclusively, we petition Universal/ Vivendi inc., with the ultimate goal to, fully restore and make seaworthy what might remain of said ship "Orca". Or in the alternate persuade Universal/Vivendi inc. to commission an accurate, seaworthy, NEW Orca to be displayed on the USH back-lot and/or utilized for Universal/Vivendi promotional tie-in events related to the film JAWS. This, for fans worldwide and future generations to enjoy.
