There are certainly other alternatives to a link through Renaissance. Several alternatives were suggested by residents of Renaissance at the developers public workshops. The developer continues to include in his plans access routes through the residential community.
We ask the town to not accept any plans by TOD Associates that involves Renaissance and which might increase noise, pollution and other risks to the quality of life in our community.
We specifically request you to consider the following alternatives:
Move the location of the proposed station a few yards north and adjacent to Otken farm. Land on both sides of the tracks at that location is open and more suited to a train station. This location would also provide better access to the train station from Routes 1, 130 along with the proposed traffic improvement plans for Adams Lane. It would minimize the impact on the residential community of Renaissance and remove the need for a link through Renaissance.
Erect a sound absorbing wall for the length of Renaissance adjacent to the railway line.
Preserve the land at the end of Renaissance Boulevard East from commercial development. This parcel of land was originally set aside for a public school in the master plan. The town could consider building a public library on the site, thereby preserving the site for our childrens use as originally intended.
We urge you to consider these options for the greater benefit of our town and community. We are eager to work with you on any solution that would keep our roads congestion free and safe.
