This petition is in opposition to the housing development, occupying green land, that is being proposed by Bolsover District Council between Oxcroft Lane and Marlpit Lane in Bolsover.
Our main concerns are:
1) The massive increase in the volume of traffic that will be caused by this - both near to the proposed site and in the town centre itself.
2) The enormity of the project - between 800 and 1000 houses - and the impact that this will have on traffic, school numbers, the number of doctors, dentists needed etc., and leisure facilities that would be required.
3) The use of green field land, when there are brown field sites that could be used as alternatives.
4)Environmental concerns - both in terms of the effect on existing wildlife and also the increased pollution levels from heavy traffic.
5) The amount of heavy plant and machinery that will be needed to build this development, resulting in not only increased levels of site traffic, but the fact that it will pass close to an infants school, and the demolition of several houses.
6) The effect that this development is likely to have on all residents of Bolsover - not just those living close to the affected area, including the effect that this will have on the nature of this historic market town.
