Note: I do not live in Grayson County but I support all points mentioned in this petition.
By signing this petition I am asking Texas Parks and Wildlife to not make any changes in regards to the whitetail deer season regulations for Grayson County. I am opposed to any recommendations or changes in the current regulations that would allow the use of firearms for the harvest of whitetail deer in Grayson County. The archery only whitetail season has been a successful management tool resulting in not only quality animals but quality experiences for both hunters and non-hunters alike who enjoy the sight of these deer. There are deer in Grayson County that have some outstanding traits but those numbers of animals are limited to only certain areas within the county lines. We believe that a firearm season in Grayson County would be devastating to the present population of deer within those areas of the county and that the quality of animals would be diminished greatly within a 2-3 year period. We ask that you continue to keep Grayson County under the present regulations and allow its residents the opportunity to observe and hunt utilizing the archery only concept as a management tool, which has resulted in the harvest of quality deer, while at the same time not jeopardized the overall population of deer within the county.
