Opposition to Permit Parking in Hillsborough

Sheffield city council is consulting on the introduction of a permit parking scheme for Hillsborough. We believe that this would be a major inconvenience for residents and businesses in the local area.

* Permits DO NOT mean that residents have a better chance of being able to park near their property. Permits mean that ANY PERMIT HOLDER will have a better chance of being able to park near a particular property.

* Local businesses will also be charged for staff and customer parking, which could lead to lost custom in addition to the increased costs.

* Those visiting local people, such as family members, carers or tradesmen will be obliged to pay for the privilege.

* There is no guarantee that the cost of permits will not increase, once they have been introduced.

We are opposed to the introduction of a parking permit scheme in any form for Hillsborough.

35. Carla R | There is no parking problem in much of Hillsborough, and where there is a football-related problem, the area is only affected on a very small number of days per year. In addition, some houses have more cars than the suggested 2 permits per household would

34. Jonathan E | I believe that a permit scheme would decrease my chances of parking in my own street (which I can currently do without problem) and make me pay for the "privilege" of parking and also to have visitors park on my road.
