Optional Outdoors School Lunch

Children attending public schools in Toronto have to spend at least half of their lunchbreak outside, whether they want to or not. In freezing cold, blistering heat, buggy weather and when the field is a pile of mud, students have to stay outside unless it is raining. Because food is not allowed outside, if your lunchroom time is up and you have not finished eating, you have to throw out your food. Most students like to go outside and they should be able to but some of us, some of the time, would rather stay inside. We should have the right to choose. This petition requests that the Toronto District School Board change its current policy, which is that either everyone has to be inside or everyone has to be outside. A thousand signatures are required before the request will be considered. Please sign now if you support students free choice during our free time.
There are two sides to going outside in winter: playing in the snow and building snowmen or freezing your tail off, while people inside have central heating. By the same token, some people see a spring or summer day as warm and sunny while others see it as buggy and muggy. Sometimes, no matter what the weather, youd like to finish your lunch at your leisure, you need to catch up with homework or study for a test, or you just arent in the mood to go outside.
