Proposal for Off-Leash Dog Park
To: Village of Palmetto Bay Parks Committee
We the undersigned, support the creation of an enclosed, off-leash dog park to be created within the area currently called Perrine Park (located at SW 175th Terrace, just east of US1). This dog park will allow dogs off-leash play and exercise which will benefit the neighborhood and surrounding areas.
We believe the creation of this park will benefit our new municipality in a number of ways, including:
Dogs who get more exercise make better neighbors because they are less likely to engage in nuisance behaviors such as excessive barking and unruly behavior.
Dog parks bring people together and create a sense of community. This park will be a great place to meet your neighbors!
The presence of regularly attending dogs and dog owners will serve as a deterrent for loiterers and vagrants.
Existing Dog Parks in Dade County and around the United States have proven themselves to be highly utilized and extremely popular and we anticipate that the proposed Dog Park in Palmetto Bay will follow suit.
It will promote responsible dog ownership by requiring all dogs be fully vaccinated and registered with the County.
Dogs who are socialized with both humans and dogs tend to behave better and are less aggressive.
It will draw residents from the surrounding communities in South Dade County into Palmetto Bay because it will be the southern-most dog park available thereby benefiting local businesses.
It will add something unique and distinctive to Palmetto Bay.
We believe the many dog owners who reside in Palmetto Bay deserve to have a fenced area where we can take our dogs to safely play and exercise. We agree to act responsibly by training, socializing, and cleaning up after our dogs.
