The purpose of this petition is to support for funding of the construction of a full sized indoor skate park facility in Whangarei, One that would be accessible and enjoyable for both skateboarding, freestyle BMX riding and for families to come and enjoy.
Many of us are out day in and day out riding whatever is accessible to us within the confines of the law and to be off of our skateboards or bikes is stopping us of our passion and talent. The addition of an indoor skate park would be a benefit for Whangarei in a few key ways.
Firstly it would be that an indoor skate park provides a place for young and old people within the city and surrounding area, which can help get youth of the couch and into a fun environment where they are able to get fit and enjoy themselves at the same time.
Secondly it would become a positive addition to Whangarei as a destination within the BMX and skate boarding communities. These two things combine to add another layer to the economy along with the pubs, beaches, the mall and other destinations important to Whangarei.
This is an initial show of support that building an indoor park will create a better community for everyone especially the next generation in Whangarei.
