Aung San Suu Kyi, leader of the Burmese democracy movement, elected Prime Minister in the 1990 elections, Nobel Peace Prize winner (1991) and one of founder Laureates of PeaceJam, has been under house arrest for nearly 14 of the last 20 years. In February the Supreme Court in Burma rejected with no reason her appeal to be released at the end of her original term of house arrest in time for the October elections.
