Petition to Address Bugs in Sprint Mogul Firmware

We, the undersigned, would like to request that Sprint PCS work with HTC to make possible the release of an update for the 6800 Mogul firmware. The current firmware version 2.09.651.3 has exhibited numerous bugs.

First, the bluetooth performance on the Mogul has been sub-par at best. There have been numerous incidents of the bluetooth connection being full of static at short distances, and sometimes dropping the connection all together. The other major issue being the volume of the bluetooth through over a dozen tested earpieces is simply too low.

Second, the new firmware update destroyed the physical keypad function with programs such as Windows Live Search, On Demand, and other NET 2.0 applications. This was not present in the original Sprint firmware for this device and needs to be corrected immediately.

Third, there are numerous other general bugs in the firmware. The camera takes a few long seconds to capture a picture from button press to recording of the image, making photo taking difficult without keeping still for 3-4+ full seconds. Sprint TV also should be supported on this device, as it is going to be on the upcoming HTC vogue.

Fourth, we propose that there were deceptive marketing tactics used in the launch of this device. Sprint.com clearly listed this device as GPS enabled and stores clearly had the device marked on spec sheets and stickers as compatible with Telenav, insinuating built-in GPS capabilities. The MSM7500 chipset in the Mogul supports GpsOne capabilities, and we request these be enabled for GPS capabilities.

Finally, there is a major issue with the RAM on this device. Over time RAM will slowly drop from its base number, approximately 24mb off a reset, to approximately 10mb in some cases. There is clearly a bug in the firmware or operating system that is not freeing up RAM once it is release by closing a program. There is clearly no reason for this problem, and it makes the function of this device clearly impeded as performance becomes extremely sluggish, and then requires a reset to regain this lost RAM.

We, the undersigned, request a firmware update be released before the end on this calendar year to address some of these severe issues with this device. Most of these problems have been apparent since the device launch and we feel cheated by the sheer price of this device versus the hindrance of functionality.
