Petition to Disband and Replace The National Autistic Society (NAS)

The NAS has lost all credibility and must be disbanded and replaced with an organisation that is more accountable and transparent, who's aim is to directly help those with Autism and who's funds should be spent on directly helping those with Autism. An organisation that has staff and volunteers on county and local levels throughout the UK that people with Autism can contact with directly for help, an organisation focused more on directly helping those with Autism through investing more in sheltered housing, day centres, key workers, education and self help courses and funding for individuals with specific needs.

Why has the NAS lost credibility ?

Is is right that 20 executives should receive in excess of £2.1 million pounds per year ? Afterall NAS is a charity not a bank or a business, therefore it's very existence should rely on those being charitable.

Is it morally acceptable that Mark Lever the Chief Executive of NAS should receive a salary of £140,000 and is it right that this salary has been raised by a massive 40% in 2 years from an already exhorbitant £100,000 - especially considering the current financial climate.

Is it right that these 20 people can afford to live in relative luxury - paid from from funds that are given and donated to supposedly help those with Autism especially when the majority of the very people they claim to represent are not working and have to live on £71/£99 per week ESA and need all the help they can get ?

Why, considering such an enormous expenditure are there relatively few people with Autism actually receiving direct help ?

Why has the NAS agenda moved more towards 'championing the rights of those affected' rather than helping them ? This 'championing' results in a neverending cycle of events, conferences, lectures, meetings, awards and speeches. How much money is being squandered on these considering the huge trail of other expenses associated such as hotels, food and travel ?

Shouldn't this money be used to directly help those that they claim to represent ?

Why are so many people online complaining about NAS ?

Why are so many people being refused help by NAS ?

NAS has morphed into an organisation concerned more with helping those running the organisation rather than those they claim to represent and in whose name they are given donations and funding and must be disbanded and replaced with a more accountable and transparent oganisation who's aim is to directly help those with Autism/ASD/Aspergers.
