Petition To Legalize Same-Sex Marriages in Ohio

The GLBT (gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered) community would like to let all of you know that same-sex marriages are currently not legal in the state of Ohio. This petition is to allow same-sex marriages in this state, providing the same benefits for couples including health, insurance, living/dead will status, as well as power of attorney with our significant others.
If there are churches that do not with to marry us, we will respect that decision. All we ask is that our unions are made legal in the state of Ohio instead of having them viewed as "unethical" and "wrong" by the opposition.
A letter was writting to Ohio Governor Ted Strickland by myself on this matter, and the only response received was "Thank you for your recent letter concerning same-sex marriages. I appreciate you taking the time to contact my office regarding this important issue. Once again, thank you for writing. Please feel free to contact my office in the future if we can be of assistance."
This is not an appropriate response to concern over this issue. We ask that the Governor of Ohio take this issue under the strictest advisement and allow same-sex marriages to finally be legalized in this state
We would like to quote the ending of the Pledge of Alliegance, which states "With liberty and justice for ALL." Again, for ALL, not for SOME. We feel that coming to terms and finally recognizing same-sex marriages in the state of Ohio will win a huge battle for gay rights and will allow people around the entire country to know that there is hope for us
