We, the indersigned, petition President Barack Obama, all members of Congress, all fifty state legislatures, all city and town councils, and all local school boards...
To work for the passing of legislation that allow and encourage students to participate in educational programs that promote nonviolence each year during the Season for Nonviolence.
Let the ideals of nonviolence resound in the halls of our public schools and give students a strong voice for peaceful relationships as they face violence in their daily lives.
Let a committee of each student council be in charge of celebrating the Season for Nonviolence from January 30 to April 4, the assination dates of Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King, Jr., respectively, and of promoting the Pledge of Nonviolence.
