PETITION TO PROTECT 'THE DUCKMAN' AKA LIK ROPER AND/OR MALLARD DUCKS IN SANTA CLARA COUNTY

We the undersigned respectfully ask City of Santa Clara to immediatley cease all legal actions against 'The Duckman' (AKA Lik Roper) regarding the feeding of ducks and/or wildlife in the City of Santa Clara.

Not only was it cruel to allow 'The Duckman' (AKA Lik Roper) to be repeatedly attacked while feeding ducks during the spring of 2006, but it is also cruel and illegal to deny animals of food and water - So not only do I want to mandate the increased protection of 'The Duckman' (AKA Lik Roper) but also ducks and all other wildlife residents living in and around the city and county of Santa Clara by; a) recognizing and/or enforcing pre-existing wildlife protection laws; b) restoring an illegally paved natural pond which used to be the old Calabasaz Creek located at 1333 Lawrence Expressway; c) allowing ducks in Santa Clara to be fed and/or cared for in a humane fashion due to the lack of viable waterfowl habitat and/or until viable habitat is created thereof; and d) prohibiting the open-air spraying of pesticides and/or herbicides on or around apartment complex waterfowl habitat, especially during the months of February through June. We are outraged by the treatment of 'The Duckman (AKA Lik Roper) and his ducky friends in the City of Santa Clara, a city which has shown little or no respect for life -- human or otherwise -- and/or the conservation of wildlife habitat. Therefore we now call for the creation of new laws strengthening protections for all aforementioned entities - human or otherwise. Please overcome your cranial/posterior syndrome and get with a new-improved environmental program. Thank You.
