Mr. Minaya,
As fans of the New York Mets, we have suffered a great deal since winning the National League championship in 2000. Throughout the history of this organization, special players have defined an era (Tom Seaver, Keith Hernandez, Mike Piazza, etc.). Over the past few years, opportunities to acquire such a player (Alex Rodriguez, Vladimir Guerrero, etc.) have been missed, leaving our team without a franchise player. Although you have added a great pitcher in Pedro Martinez, we believe that Carlos Beltran would give us what we need: a superstar to build around. Add Beltran to Jose Reyes and David Wright, and you have the makings of a dynamic offense. We urge you to see what this player would add to the team, not only on the field, but in the community as well. Thank you for your consideration.
