We, students at the University of Kent at Canterbury affiliated with the department of Politics and International relations do not believe that the module entitled "PO621 - Political research and analysis" should be a compulsory module for the course. The depth of statistical understanding required means that it discriminates against those who do not have a background in mathematics post-GCSE. While it is appreciable that statistics is a study that is worthy of consideration in politics and international relations, not to the extent the PO621 gives us. We would therefore submit that either the module is no longer made compulsory or another module is created which does not go into the level of depth that PO621 does.
