The Port Hedland District Hospital is facing severe staff shortages
(5 of 8 District Medical Officers, and 3 of 7 Specialists), and
The Town is also losing General Practitioners because poor housing
and amenities and amenities in the Town, and
The Government has failed to invest in the basic maintenance and
upgrading of old run-down housing to a reasonable standard, and
Port Hedland is competing in an international market for medical
professionals, and losing:
The following residents of the Town petition the Governments of the
State of Western Australia and the Commonwealth of Australia, to:
Immediately move the families of Doctors in sub-standard accomodation
(being four families) to rental accomodation of high quality, and
Provide funding over the next four years to invest in Staff
Accomodation for the District Hospital so that Doctors, Nurses and
their families have housing of a standard befitting their importance
to our Community."
