Dear Dean Sandlow:

We are submitting a petition regarding the вPortfolio Assignmentsв. We understand that your aim was to provide us with a method of self-reflection and a medium through which to communicate with our advisors. However, the majority of us feel that these assignments are not conducive to our Medical Education. We feel that the efforts required to document responses online that, to date, may or may not have been read and commented on by our advisors, is not an effective introspective or feedback method. Given our other academic and clinical requirements, we feel that requiring faculty and students to participate in the program is a restriction of precious learning time without offering formative educational experiences or effective mentorship from advisors. Therefore, we kindly request that the вPortfolio Assignmentв NOT be a requirement in our curriculum.

Nevertheless, because individuals who value this opportunity exist, we strongly support voluntary participation.

Thank you for attention.
