Potters Bar - Return to 1 Hour Free Parking

Hertsmere Borough Council has recently decided to reduce the Potters Bar 'Free' parking period from One Hour to 30 minutes. They do however still allow parking for upto One Hour for a payment of £0.20 (twenty pence) which is felt by many to be nothing more than a revenue generating scheme which could result in shoppers by-passing the High Street and Darkes Lane in favour of the large Mega-store on Mutton Lane. This Mega-store in recent months has within the store opened a number of small boutique shops that compete with a wider range of local High Street and Darkes Lane shop keepers for business. If you feel that Hertsmere Borough Council should return to One Hour 'Free' parking I urge you to sign up to this petition. If we gain sufficient support we will again open dialogue with Hertsmere Borough Council to look to do what is best for you (the residents of Potters Bar and surrounding towns and villages) and the local shop keepers and traders of the High Street and Darkes Lane.
