A POP is a pollutant that builds in our body. In this case the styrene builds in our fatty tissues. It takes approximately twenty to thirty years to dissipate. Because it takes this long it will never dissipate because we are exposed to it constantly.
It is in the air from anything that burns, car exhaust, etc. It also accumulates in the air from building supplies, gasoline fumes and tobacco smoke.
It can leach into our water from landfills that have Styrofoam and plastics that break down.
It leaches in to our food from polystyrene food containers. It is also present in some of our meats because it is in the animal grain.
Styrene attacks the central nervous system according to U.S. government research. One of the main side effects is depression.
Consider also the effects of styrene that is passed along in breast milk to infants.
With all the current ways we are already exposed to Styrene is it necessary that foods should contain Styrene as an additive?
Help tell the FDA that we want this practice stopped.
