SUBJECT: Proposition for Ending American Military Presence in Iraq

Dear United States Government Leaders,

The War in Iraq has taken more than three thousand American lives. We know! People are dying on a daily basis. We know! The fighting has gone from small pockets of resistance to total instability in every region. Protesters outside congress screaming "End the War, Get the troops out!" and Democrats and Republicans alike are trying to stop funding for the war. The solution is not suggested anywhere. So what can we do to end the war? The answer is actually a mixture of everything that people have said. Get the troops out of Iraq, do not finance the war anymore, and end the war, but it is not as simple as that. But we have an answer.

First get the troops out of Iraq. Most everyone has been in the process of weaning. Whether it be getting a group of puppies to start drinking water or quitting smoking. The Iraqi's must take over their country. Why would they want to right now? America is paying for the reconstruction, they only have to have minimal Iraqi police, and it's "only" civilians and American soldiers getting killed in the car bombings and mortar attacks. They actually have a pretty nice situation right now. They pay attention to the oil production and the Americans can take care of the rest.

I propose, instead of adding twenty thousand more American sons and daughters take twenty thousand out. Pull ten to twenty thousand every six weeks to ten weeks. As the Iraqi government sees less and less American soldiers patrolling the streets and more chaos, the government will actually have to start to try and put an end to the violence. Just like a dog that refuses to drink water instead mama's milk, after a few days they will get thirsty.

And when all the troops are out, take away the money. The Sunnis and the Shiites keep blowing up their homes because Americans will just build it back. After twenty or thirty more bombings and when there towns start to look like Mogadishu, Somalia, they will more than likely stop. People like beds and roofs and food. Iraqi's are no different. America will not be building anything back or giving any food. This is just like when the college kid actually has to get a job because mom and dad quit giving them money. It is time to make them responsible.

And after they are homeless, exhausted, and enough of their women and children are killed, they will realize it wasn't worth it. I seem to remember a war that happened in the 1860's that was a lot like the war in Iraq. Instead of Shiite versus Sunni, it was north versus south. And just like Iraq will find out, we were exhausted, homeless, and enough blood had been shed, we stopped the fighting. It wasn't worth it. And even though the north won that war, we have learned to live together.

In conclusion, it is time to bring our boys and girls home. Our mission is complete. Lets wean the Iraqis off the American teat and let them work out the issues that affect them. We have no idea why they fight about what they do. It is not our job to try to fix it. Sadaam is gone. The rest is up to them. Lets get our troops home.
