Protest The Arrest of Sri Jayendra Saraswati Swamiji.

Dear Sir/Madam,

The arrest of Sri Jayendra Saraswati Swamiji by the Tamil Nadu policehas come as a rude shock to Hindus across the world. Different mediareports suggest that this is a politically motivated, vindictivearrest. Whatever the merits of the case, there was no need for theKanchi seer to be arrested in Hyderabad and flown to Chennai. We donot believe that there was either a public or private need for such anattack on the pontiff of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetha

The arrest and shaming of the Kanchi seer is a slap on Hindus as wellas Hinduism, and we fear a concerted campaign of defamation of Hindusymbols, leaders, and ideals.

This arrest of Swamiji is an affront to the one billion Hindus aroundthe world. We urge the immediate release of the Kanchi Seer, a probeinto the mode and method of arrest, and an apology by those who haveorchestrated and carried out this willful act.
