Quotas for Women in Government

To the President of the United States and members of Congress:
We the undersigned appeal to you to institute a mandatory quota system to guarantee sufficient participation of women in the government. The quota system has been the most successful method for many other countries for breaking the barriers women face in their participation in the political process.
Geraldine Ferraro (RIP) passed away in March 2011 and despite her great efforts to break the glass ceiling we still have had no female vice president and no female president in the long history of this country. Currently the United States ranks 72th in the world for the participation of women in government, a position shared with Turkmenistan: http://www.ipu.org/wmn-e/classif.htm
We ask you to require that 50\% of the representatives of the government be female so as to have a more democratic country. With that in place we would have a far more balanced and representative view of the world's problems and how to solve them.
