Reassessment of Priorities

The current rules regarding the Sixth Form Dress Code are, we believe, far too stringent. We feel that it is unnecessary to force students to have top buttons and ties done up and shirts tucked in. Hair length should be a personal decision, as should hair colour and style. We feel that's the school's priority, rather than regulating how smart its pupils appear, should be providing a comfortable and easy working environment. If a pupil feels that he will study more productively with his tie loosened and top button undone, that should not be forbidden.

We are furthermore convinced that one should be judged on one's contribution to the school, academic history and overall collegiality and conduct towards fellow students. Such trivialities as appearance should not be a factor in the allocation of privileges, favours or amenities.
