We R.E.A.CT (Recover Enfield's Access to the Connecticut River) are working diligently to regain our right to access the Connecticut River at the Enfield Dam in Enfield, CT. In 2001 Amtrak installed NO TRESPASSING signs and a barrier cable across the traditional access area. By Amtrak barring us from crossing their tracks to the River and by them not providing any alternative access they have in effect made the whole Enfield Rapids No Mans Land. We would like for you to sign our petition in order to help to get the message out to Amtrak that we are not going to sit idly by while we lose our access to the CT River.
The railroad has been here since 1844 and they have always allowed access to the Enfield Dam until April of 2001.
We demand that they negotiate with R.E.A.CT and the Connecticut River Watershed Association to find a reasonable solution that everyone can live with.
It is your right to access the CT River, dont let that be lost for your childrens and their childrens sake.
