Reform Regina Mask By-Law

As a resident of the City of Regina I am firmly AGAINST a Mandatory Mask By-Law.
  Healthy, law-abiding citizens should not be forced to take any precaution that can result in physical and emotional harm and that impinges on their constitutional rights; this includes the right to bodily autonomy, the right to move about freely, the right to participate in society without discrimination and the right to be free from unreasonable government intrusion. The mandatory mask by-law violates the following:
  I. Human Rights - Health is a Personal Right and Responsibility Wearing a mask should be individual choice, not a universal mandate. It is our human right to make choices regarding our body, and to freely choose what precautions and perceived risks to take.
  II. No Solid Evidence of Efficacy There is no compelling scientific evidence to justify the widespread push to mandate universal mask wearing. Mandatory Masks can cause considerable harm and are not proven effective. The demonstrated risks of wearing a mask, which include hypoxia, hypercapnia, blood acidity, suppressed immunity, and increased blood pressure - life threatening to those with heart or lung conditions - far outweigh the alleged benefits.
  III. Cause more harm than protection Solid scientific studies prove fabric masks show a higher incidence of viral transmission than using them at ones’ natural discretion. Cloth masks are also problematic as some have been treated with registered pesticides. Mask wear can also increase transmission as a result of decreased focus on other protective behaviors. Self-contamination and moisture retention inside masks can also increase the risk of infection.
  IV. Societal Atmosphere of Anxiety & Unrest Mask wear generates an atmosphere of fear, panic and anxiety. The dichotomy between mask wearers and non- wearers is blatant - creating division and bullying - a threat to personal safety. In some cases, worry has escalated into aggression, belligerence and denial of essential services like medical care to people. People struggling with PTSD or anxiety are also compromised into further vulnerability. Our social atmosphere is changing into one of judgment, discrimination and social unrest over who is complying and who is not.
  V. City Overstepping Jurisdiction & Practicing Medicine Without a License Due to this serious medical decision being mandated by city council, of which no regulatory health body or authority has directed, we ask you reject a Mandatory Mask By-Law. This decision a medical decision and clearly lies outside of municipal jurisdiction.
  If City Council continues forward with a mandatory mask by-law, then council members whom vote for the by-law will need to be made liable for all damages incurred bodily or otherwise to the 228,928 residents of Regina - many who are already affected by the common effect of hypoxia and hypercapnia as a result of wearing a mask 8+ hours a day. Based on the information presented, l am confident that you, as the Mayor of Regina and the City of Regina Councillors will recognize why mandating a mask by-law is both unconstitutional, unjustified and dangerous.
