Removal of Mr. Ward Churchill

This petition requests that Mr. Ward Churchill no longer be employed by the University of Colorado as per section 5.C.1 of the Laws of the Regents. Mr. Churchill's recently publicized actions concerning his comments regarding the victims of the September 11th 2001 terrorist attack bring discredit to both the University and the State of Colorado. As such, Mr. Churchill's actions fit the following grounds for dismissal as stated in section 5.C.1:

1) [D]emonstrable professional incompetence, and
2) [O]ther conduct which falls below minimum standards of professional integrity.

We ask the Regents to discontinue the employment of this sadly misdirected individual before legal action against the state and/or the University is initiated by the families of those killed in the September 11th atrocity. Hate speech such as Mr. Churchill is spouting should not be tolerated at an institution of higher learning regardless of whether it is from a student, faculty, or a department chairperson.
