Recent freedom camping laws have stopped any new Zealand citizen from camping on any Crown owned land without a self containment cert. This means - NO tents, caravans, house buses or any other mode of camping. Lighting camp fires is also prohibited.
As kiwis we have the right of movement in our country and we also have the right of access ( See NZ bill of rights )
This new law has limited or freedom and you will not notice it until you get wheel clamped and a fine for camping by the river.
