As a radio listener in the Cedar Rapids / Iowa City area, I am concerned that radio programming on local stations is too heavily skewed to a conservative point of view. To achieve better political balance that will promote public dialog and democratic discourse, I encourage radio station managers to consider switching all or part of their programming to progressive talk radio such as Air America.
I believe that progressive talk radio has a high probability of financial success in the Cedar Rapids / Iowa City area because it is a market that votes predominately Democratic in local, state, and national elections. I also believe that progressive talk will succeed in the Cedar Rapids / Iowa City area because of verifiable voting trends, and because people in this area enjoy healthy debate and are starved for a balanced perspective on our airwaves.
