Residents in support of the Bicycling Plan for Needham

According to the Boston Globe, "Massachusetts ranks last in the nation among all states in requesting federal funds for bike lanes, rail-trails, and similar improvements and has failed to use more than $80 million set aside for the state." (full article at http://is.gd/sknp).
Since 2000, there has been a bicycle plan in front of Needham town officials, and each year it has been passed over due to the expense and the perceived lack of support among residents. The total cost of the plan, which would include signage, striping and many other improvements is currently estimated at around $50,000. The original plan is available on http://NeedhamBikes.org.
The signatures here are a demonstration of support for implementing the plan. Please work to secure some of the unused funding to improve conditions in Needham for bicyclists, as well as automobiles that share the road with those on bikes.
