Restore Mr. Lewis as a Classroom Teacher at Orde

For the upcoming 2019-2020 school year, Mr. Martin Lewis (“Mr. Lewis”) has been assigned by the administration at Orde Street Public School (“Orde”) to teach physical education/health/dance to primary students (Kindergarten to Grade 3).

For decades, generations of Orde students have benefited from Mr. Lewis’ teaching excellence across all areas of the junior grade (Grades 4 to 6) as well as his exceptional devotion to extra-curricular activities in both sports and social activism.  Taking him out of the junior classroom does a great disservice to the students and parents of Orde, is a waste of his talents and skills, and is an extraordinary loss to our school community. Mr. Lewis strongly believes, and many within the Orde community would agree, that he could have the greatest impact in the academic classroom.  If this assignment is not changed, he may be forced to seek another opportunity at another school where he can continue to do what he does best. This would be a devastating loss to our school community.

We, the undersigned, call on the administration at Orde to immediately restore Mr. Lewis as a junior classroom teacher at Orde. The next generation of Orde’s junior grade students deserve to benefit from this wonderful teacher.
