Reversal of Change to CCCA Abyssinian Standard

We, the undersigned, wish to protest the change to the CCCA Abyssinian standard which permits Somalis as an allowable outcross.
We call upon the CCCA to rescind this change immediately.
We consider the Abyssinian to be a purebred cat that should not have any breed as an outcross.
We consider the use of Somalis and Variants in the Abyssinian gene pool to be problematic, which will diminish the good reputation of the Australian Abyssinian in the international cat fancy.
We consider that the Abyssinian is a valuable and necessary outcross for the Somali gene pool. Any shorthaired offspring and descendents of Variants and Somalis should have their pedigrees marked so that it is known that there is the possibility that the cat carries longhair.
We expect that the CCCA should give consideration to the views and knowledge of Abyssinian and Somali breeders in Australia and worldwide, who have the greatest interest of the long term survival, protection and development of the Abyssinian and Somali breeds.

I protest the CCCA rule change and find it in my opinion to be detrimental to both the Abyssinian and Somali breeds. The Aby is a necessary asset to the Somali and not vice versa. Please let us

The Aby should continue to be an allowable outcross for the Somali,but not the other way around.It is important that Breeders are kept informed on matters relating to change in standards as this is.
