Save ACORN

To Congress:

ACORN has become a popular target for the right wing. While the videos that were released earlier this fall depict some of their staff doing things most people find objectionable, that does not release you from adhering to the Constitution. In your rush to judge ACORN, you passed several bills that violate article one sections nine and 10, which prohibit passage of any bills of attainder. These clauses exist to prevent Congress from punishing a person or organization without allowing them due process.

The released video was edited and possibly doctored; the full tapes have yet to be released, it is wrong to punish ACORN simply because it is politically convenient to do so.

We ask that you repeal any De-fund ACORN bills and remove the punitive language that prevents funding for ACORN and its affiliates, subsidiaries and allies from the Continuing Resolution that you passed on October 30.
