Save Afsane Noroozi's Life

Your Excellency;

We the undersigned, having tried unsuccessfully to gain justice through the usual channels, ask for your intervention in this urgent matter to save an innocent life;

Afsane Noroozi, an Iranian woman is currently facing a death sentence after being convicted of dubious charges of murder. In reality, Afsane killed her assailant, a high ranking member of Iranian security police in defense and to avoid a sexual assault.

Self-defense was not considered as a legitimate argument at her trial, according to Islamic Republics judiciary rulings.

Afsane joins one of the worlds largest death-rows, awaiting her sentence by a government that is already one of the major enforcers of capital punishment globally. Amnesty International has already documented 80 cases of executions in Iran this year, but fears the actual number is much higher.

We urge you to consider our sincere and crucial plea to interfere on this matter and request a halt to Mrs. Noroozis punishment and push for a review of her case, based on simple principles of international law.

We also appeal to the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran to honor international treaties and agreements it is committed to, in particular the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which guarantees every persons right to life, liberty and security.
