Network Rail said they would refurbish Aigburth station in south Liverpool, and repair the existing waiting area canopy, which dates from the 19th Century.
But now that their contractors are on site, it turns out that they actually plan to demolish half of the canopy, re-use the material at another site, and put up a modern bus-shelter style waiting area instead.
We have managed to get them to halt demolition until Monday 25th March, pending a meeting with Network Rail senior management on site at the station. But we need to keep up the pressure to let them know that their plans are opposed by as many people as possible.
