Canadian designers, architects, and sustainable manufacturers are renowned worldwide for their eco-friendly buildings and furniture products. Several Canadian cities have taken initiatives to bring about change in developing and renovating projects, following the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) green building rating system. Market demand has also contributed to the burgeoning sector of sustainable manufacturing in Canada.

Woodstalk is one of the few innovative materials to enter the market of sustainable products that satisfies the criteria for healthy and energy-efficient materials and processes. Made from "waste" straw, Woodstalk is an eco-friendly, high-performance panel and alternative to wood-based particleboard, medium-density fiberboard (MDF), plywood, and solid wood. This product contributes to LEED credits, as it is rapidly renewable, innovative in design, produces low emissions of harmful particles, and reuses resources (wheat straw can be recycled and renewed annually).

Recently, Dow announced the closure of its Woodstalk manufacturing facility in Manitoba on December 31, 2005. A Canadian-made panel, Woodstalk or equivalent, is core to our country's ability to produce sustainable, formaldehyde-free products. Therefore, we, the undersigned, ask that you take every measure to support new investors in reopening the plant.

SAUVONS L'USINE CANADIENNE D'AGGLOMЙRЙ
