Save Historic 328 North Avenue

We respectfully request that the owners of Champlain Farms, Inc. reconsider their plan to demolish the historic streamline moderne service station located at 328 North Avenue in Burlington, Vermont. The structures rounded corners, large plate glass windows, streamline detailing and white porcelain enameled steel exterior faзade are all hallmarks of mid-twentieth century modernist architecture and design. Built in 1956/57 by the Gulf Oil Co., 328 North Avenue is the last remaining example of this building type in the City of Burlington.

As an alternative to demolition, we encourage Champlain Farms, Inc. to consider rehabilitating this historic building for use as a convenience store. As a locally-based company, Champlain Farms, Inc. has the opportunity and responsibility to respect the integrity of Burlingtons architectural and cultural heritage.
