We are concerned citizens who urge the Metropolitan Transportation Authority to maintain weekend service to midtown Manhattan via the X27 and X28 buses, as well as service between Fort Hamilton and Downtown Brooklyn via the B37 bus along 3rd Avenue.
South Brooklyn is currently underserved by the MTA, and residents rely on local bus routes for which the MTA has proposed cuts the B37, X27, X28, B4 and B16 to travel to and from work quickly and conveniently. No subway stops on the R and D trains in Bay Ridge and Bensonhurst are handicapped-accessible. For residents with disabilities, these subway lines are not a legitimate alternative to bus services, and cutting these bus routes would deny them access to public transportation.
