We, the undersigned, are asking McDonough County and the State of Illinois to immediately remove any horse from the care of B.C. Despain at 1915 W Adams in Macomb, IL and for animal negligence charges be filed against him.
The goal is for the horses to be rehabilited and rehomed
On March 29, 2010 the local animal shelter was called by the Sherrif to 1915 W Adams in Macomb regarding horses that were stuck in the mud. Two of the three horses stuck were freed but the remaining horse was so emaciated and anaemic from neglect that she did not have the energy or strength to get up. Her body condition was extremely poor and there was little chance of any recovery. The vet came and euthanized this horse but there are still several horses that remain on the property and are in very poor body condition and some of them are pregnant. They are kept in a muddy paddock with out any shelter and any foal that makes it to term and is deliverd under these conditions would die.
