PETITION TO PROTECT MEADOW CREEK ROADLESS AREA

We, the undersigned, support complete protection for Meadow Creek Roadless Area on the Nez Perce National Forest in NC Idaho. Meadow Creek, at over 200,000 acres, is the most important tributary of the Selway River for anadromous fish. For its wilderness character, unique ecological features, rare plants, and mid-low elevation old-growth forests this place has long been recommended for wilderness protection to no avail. This precious place is currently threatened by a proposed dirtbike jamboree, efforts by the state to log and develop the western half of the roadless area, and a lack of motorized use regulation. We ask that Meadow Creek remain free of road-building, logging, and other development as well as off-limits to damaging motorized recreation.
