On June 18, 2008 Netflix announced that effective September 1, 2008, the account profile feature will be eliminated. Profiles are a feature that allow an account holder to split their allotted DVD rentals amongst a number of different queues, allowing for multiple users in a household to each have their own queue, or to allow users to perhaps have one queue for movies and another for TV shows. Netflix's official explanation is so that they can "continue to improve the Netflix website for all our customers." When contacted by phone, they responded that "most users do not use this feature." As Netflix customers, we believe that this is a very useful feature, and in some cases the sole reason of retaining our memberships. We demand that Netflix reverse this decision, or otherwise when this change goes into effect, we will consider canceling our memberships and looking elsewhere for DVD rentals, and we believe that it is misfortunate that Netflix seemingly ignored their customers in coming to this decision.
